A thick slice of crusty toast lathered with butter and some vegemite spread on top has always been my favourite snack, so getting to work with Wil and Dani from Pixel Bakehouse and getting to seeing their passion for creating their amazing loaves was a match made in heaven.
The brief for Pixel was simple - they didn't want oldtime/country town bakery vibes to be found here - It was to be modern, clean and bold - a monotone palette with street brand vibes.
The logo needed to express just how cool the folks behind the killer artisan bakery were- it needed to reflect their strong personalities and unconventional presence in the market. I wanted to distinguish them from the rest of the bakery crowd using a wide, minimalist and bold sans serif font. I incorporated the little silhouette of the wheat to the 'X' to create the brandmark which is perfect for marking the spot and a neat little symbol that has its roots in the traditional.
When designing their website our main goal was not just making it look bloody amazing- we also focused on making sure it reflected the visual and verbal identity of the brand. The animation when you first open the site is a reference to their name and ties into the minimalist and modern styling of the brand which reflects the true brand personality and values. The overall feel of this mobile optimised website is modern, sleek and cool.
This project was a dream to work on and we can't wait to continuously salivate over their killer loaves.
